Student Voices

More junior students generally focus on behind the scenes work, while those further along in their studies take center stage. When speaking to the students, it becomes clear that, while their projects come directly from their coursework, the Arts Month events are more than just another assignment. Design Week and the Hilton Anatole exhibit are just the latest examples of how the school helps students turn their passion into a profession, if they so choose. Creative individuals are uniquely positioned to make a difference by offering innovative perspectives and solutions to real-world issues. At ArtCenter College of Design, we believe a comprehensive art and design education is the foundation for success. Traditionally, we celebrate the achievements of our graduating students through on-campus exhibitions each spring.

This year, in response to COVID-19, we have once again transitioned our Master's Thesis, Excellence Awards, and Undergraduate Senior Exhibitions online. In 1928, Helen Miller Kendall, accomplished artist and wife of furniture design legend David Wolcott Kendall, established the David Wolcott Kendall Memorial School to continue her husband's legacy of creativity, education, and innovation. It is not just a collection of images, objects, essays, and theses; it is the hard-earned proof that they have persevered through what is perhaps the greatest challenge of our time. KCAD is an extraordinary college, not because of what we say, but because of what you do. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the merger between KCAD and Ferris State University. As a campus community, we take pride in the elements of KCAD that make our learning community unique and value the opportunities that are a direct result of the college's partnership with Ferris. We emphasize small class sizes and one-on-one interaction, which means our expert faculty are more than teachers—they’re mentors who invest in your success. Beyond the classroom, a KCAD education connects you and your creativity to something bigger than yourself through industry interactions, real-world projects, and community engagement.
